Is FTIN Number Mandatory?

It is mandatory for FATCA returns; in countries where no income tax law applies (Middle East), other ID numbers available with the customer can be mentioned.
What happens if incorrect FATCA/CRS declaration is submitted by NRI?
FATCA/CRS declaration with correct details is required along with the proposal form. In case a policyholder has submitted incorrect details in the FATCA forms, same would lead to penalty of INR 5000 per year on policyholder.
In case of any change of address or change in status from NRI to resident, the same should be intimated to the Company for reporting purpose.
What are alternate documents, if FTIN is not available?

In case your country does not issue FTIN, any functional equivalent like Social Security Number, National Insurance Number, Resident Registration Number, Citizen or Personal Identification Code or Number etc. is acceptable along with proof
